Jen Ritchotte joined The Special Kids Company in 2013 and is a certified teacher with over 20 years of varied experience. After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Delaware she began her career as a special educator in the Howard County Public School System. She taught students with a range of disabilities in a variety of programs and settings. While teaching, Jen earned her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction (Reading Specialist certificate) from the University of Maryland, College Park. She then worked as a reading specialist and reading support teacher with Howard County before leaving the school system to focus on her family. Jen continued to tutor privately and consult with families about educational programming. She also worked on curriculum development for the Elementary Language Arts department in Howard County in addition to working as a supervisor for the University of Maryland summer reading clinic and teaching a reading course at the University of Maryland.
Jen holds a Maryland Advanced Professional Teaching Certificate in the areas of Elementary Education, Special Education, and Reading Specialist. She enjoys working closely with families in the DC-Baltimore Metropolitan area and develops positive, collaborative relationships with school staff and other professionals to plan educational programming that ensures student success. Jen lives in Silver Spring, MD with her husband and four children.
